Jays Football move to 3-0!
The Jackson-Milton Blue Jays improved to 3-0 for the year, defeating Windham 47-0. The Jays’ passing attack was led by quarterback Jack McDevitt, who completed 4 passes for 82 yards and 2 touchdowns. Zach Johnson led the Blue Jays with 32 receiving yards. Johnson also scored 2 touchdowns, one receiving and one rushing. Leo Hines also had a receiving touchdown, and 30 receiving yards. DJ Osborne led the Jays with 96 yards rushing and 2 TDs on the ground. Eli Handrych added 77 rushing yards for the Blue Jays. McDevitt also contributed 31 yards on the ground. The Jackson-Milton offensive line controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the game, allowing the Blue Jays’ offense to put together many long drives. On defense, Carter Headley led the Blue Jays with 7 total tackles, 1 TFL and 2 sacks. Jack McDevitt tallied 5 total tackles and intercepted the Windham quarterback. BLUE JAYS’ VARSITY CROSS COUNTRY HAVE SUCCESSFUL START AT RIVERSIDE
The Jackson-Milton Varsity Cross Country teams headed to Painesville Riverside to compete in the HOKA Kickoff Classic XC Showcase facing tough competition consisting mainly of D1-D3 schools. The boys’ race had 326 competitors while the girls had 314.Addison Ferenczy started off the night in the girls’ black division race running a very steady 34:13.62(305 th ) place finish.Nora Schwarten and Abby Bueno competed in the girls’ gold division. Nora had a solid 37 th place finish while Abby ran a career personal best time of 21:54.53 for a 66 th place finish.The boys’ team finished 22 nd out of 43 teams (637 points). Benjamin Bacorn (89 th ) led the time with a career PB of 18:29.04 followed closely by Landon Fortunato (105 th ) and a career PB of 18:46.43. BLUE JAYS’ MIDDLE SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY HAVE SUCCESSFUL SEASON OPENER
The Jackson-Milton Middle School Cross Country teams headed to Painesville Riverside tocompete in the HOKA Kickoff Classic XC Showcase facing tough competition consisting mainly ofD1-D3 schools. The boys’ race had 406 competitors while the girls had 340.The girls’ team ran first and finished 17 th out of 31 teams (501 points). 3 runners placed in thetop 70 led by Cora Dean (57 th ) followed closely by Gabby Clegg (66 th ) and Skilyn Fortsch (70 th ).Ayla Moser (212 th ) and Ava Tallman (272 nd ) rounded out the top 5 finishers while Rebecca Bayer(278 th ) and Mackenzie McCutcheon (287 th ) closed out the top 7 scoring. MacKenzieMcCutcheon also had a career PB time of 20:06.75. Also competing on the girls’ side wasDalylah Tallman (316 th ) and Isabella Tallman (322 nd ).On the boys’ side the team finished 20 th out of 39 teams (406 points). Jays take week 1 Win!
The Jackson-Milton Blue Jays started the year off on the right foot, defeating the Mathews Mustangs 20-13. The Jays’ passing attack was led by quarterback Jack McDevitt, who completed 2 of 5 pass attempts for 37 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown pass was a 10 yard strike to receiver JJ Fishel. Leo Hines led the Blue Jays with 27 receiving yards. McDevitt was also the Jays’ leading rusher with 133 yards and a touchdown. DJ Osborne also tallied 39 rushing yards and a touchdown. The Jackson-Milton offensive line powered the rushing attack, especially in the 4th quarter, helping the Blue Jays punch in the final touchdown to secure the victory. On defense, DJ Osborne led the Jays with 13 tackles. Carter Headley racked up 10 total tackles, while Eli Handrych made 9 total tackles. Raiden Rossi and Nick Bulow recorded sacks for the Jays.
